This shows how some major property developers were doing for quarter period from July to September 2011.
The quarter profits attributable to shareholders are in dollar terms and the figures in brackets show the percentage change over the same quarter of the previous year. No interim dividends were declared for all the companies below.
Company with increase in profits
Keppel Land $58 m (+6.6%)
Companies with reduction in profits
UOL $101 m (-11.0%)
City Development $132 m (- 32.4%)
CapitaLand $80.2 m (- 82.6%)
Based on third quarter results, CapitaLand did poorly compared to the rest. The global economic uncertainties weighed heavily on the prospects of property developers. If confidence of property buyers was not lifted, property developers will be hit hard moving forward.
