STI dropped below the floor

The Straits Times Index (STI) at the end of last year was 3167.08 points. Yesterday, it was 3173.33. As of now, STI fell below the floor, now at 3126.42, a 1.46% decline today (20 August 5.07 pm).

No gain in STI at all for this year. It is now in negative territory.

Trading volume is 3.08 billion shares at $1.65 billion in value. Only 88 gainers with whopping 397 losers.

Almost all counters I am monitoring are in a sea of red. One reason for today’s trading pattern could be fear of Fed tapering its bond purchase program sooner than later.
