Scenic mountain road ride across Taroko National Park (太魯閣國家公園)

We were lucky enough to travel by road from Cingjing Farm清境農場to Hualien City花蓮市cutting across Hehuanshan合歡山 with several peaks. These peaks are above 3,000 m. If it were March, this mountain road was closed off because of snow-covered roads.

From Cingjing, we took a mini-bus (9-seater) and travelled eastward across the Central mountain ranges. It was cold as we reached the peak of the ride at about 13.5 degrees Celsius at above 3,000 m. Our first stop was Wuling (武嶺) at 3,275 m. We moved to above the clouds and on the descent we got into thick foggy mountain roads before reaching Taroko Gorge 大魯閣 at the Eastern-most part of Hualien County nearest to Pacific Ocean.

We made a stop at Bilu Divine Tree 碧綠神木 to see a 3,300 years old Fir tree. Another stop was 天祥(Tian Xiang). Though it was a stop-over, this place is heavenly.

The mountain road journey was breath taking and most scenic of our travel.
