Interest income on CPF balances

I received my CPF statement for 2016 some days ago.

Interest income on my CPF balances average 3.7% per annum.

This 3.7% return is way above the current 10-year Singapore Government Bonds coupon rate of 2.125%. It is also above 30-year Government Bonds coupon rate of 2.750%.

In this financial climate, it was hard to beat this kind of return without jeopardizing the principal sum.
