“Singapore Version 2.0, Alternative proposals for a better Singapore” by Gerald Giam – A Book Review

The book is available at the National Library.
383 pages covering diverse topics from Politics to Foreign Affairs (14 in total)

Gerald Giam was a Non-constituency Member of Parliament of 12th Parliament of Singapore from 2011 to 2015. He is currently President of Youth Wing, Workers’ Party.

Gerald Giam is a blogger and a political activist. Singapore Version 2.0 was released in 2010. Articles were written during the period 2006 to 2009 before the GE 2011.

Gerald Giam wrote these pieces with convictions that there can be alternatives to current state of affairs in Singapore. Party politics rule how Singapore is governed. Read this book to get a feel for what Gerald’s stands were on various aspects of lives in Singapore. The book is dated and seven years had passed since its release. Many things had happened in Singapore and the world and there was another GE in 2015.

Reading the book made me feel that Gerald Giam wanted to contribute to the political landscape of Singapore. Not often people can be that passionate and take times to comment on Singapore politics on a regular basis.
