“The Monogram Murders” by Sophie Hannah – A Book Review

The Brand New Hercule Poirot Mystery

Hercule Poirot came to life in the 1929 murder mystery written by the author Sophie Hannah. Agatha Christie’s famous Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, was in retirement when three hotel guests of the posh Bloxham Hotel were murdered in similar fashion. The wit and perceptive intelligence of Poirot were tested to get at the truth of what transpired in this unusual monogram murder case.

There were lies and deceptions and it was confusing reading the story. You thought you got the real situation that happened and next it was debunked with flaws in the evidence provided. The author took me round and round the various statements made by likely murderer(s). So who was the real murderer that carried out the act of killing? Were there more than one?

Sophie Hannah only reveals the motives and actual events only at the end of the book which has an Epilogue. This is the first Hercule Poirot book written by the author in 2014. She has another Poirot mystery Closed Casket released in 2016.
