Food catering is a big business. These businesses cater for weddings, functions and events. What dismayed me most was not the quality of the food but the disposable plates, bowls, cups, and plastic cutlery sets provided by caterers. These disposal items were thrown away after each use. At the end of the receptions, you would see bags and bags of these items.
This is not eco-friendly. My sincere wish is that all caterers provide washable and reusable plates, bowls, cups and cutlery sets as part of their catering businesses. They then collect them back after each function.
Will we reach this stage of development where the caterers play a part to reduce use of disposal items? Can National Environment Agency (NEA) provide incentives for food caterers to adopt eco-friendly practices?
