April month turns out well for financial markets

The financial markets rebounded from the low levels in December 2018. The equity markets did well in April, up till now. Even the Straits Times Index (STI) had re-bounded from 3,068.76 points at 31.12.2018 to 3,362.43 points today, up 9.6%.

Within this month, I had sold off 3 unit trusts:

  1. First State Regional China Fund A6 SGD-H
  2. BlackRock European Equity Income A6 SGD-H
  3. LionGlobal Singapore Dividend Equity Fund SGD – A

These funds had risen to a level that I could sell off and reduce my exposure to these funds. These funds were down 15.2%, 10.2% and 12.2% respectively on 31.12.2018.

By doing this, my overall portfolio was down only 0.7% as compared to –3.07% on 31.12.2018. This was an improvement of 3.0 percentage points.

From this time onwards, I will be sitting out from investing and watch out how the financial markets are moving in the next few months.
