Stocks weakened in three weeks

In the three weeks when I was away for a silent retreat without any access to news of any kind, the stock markets continued to weaken.

Stock Indices 17-May-2019 7-Jun-2019 Change (%)
Hang Seng (HK) 27,946.46 26,965.28 -3.5%
Shanghai Composite 2,882.30 2,827.80 -1.9%
Nikkei 225 (Japan) 21,250.09 20,884.71 -1.7%
STI (Singapore) 3,205.46 3,166.29 -1.2%
Nasdaq (USA) 7,816.28 7,742.10 -0.9%
S&P 500 (USA) 2,859.53 2,873.34 0.5%
Dow Jones (USA) 25,764.00 25,983.94 0.9%

The four Asian stock markets were in negative territory. Hang Seng Index was down 3.5%, the worst performing stock market.

The STI was down 1.2%. My portfolio of Singapore equities took another beating.

The US stock markets were relatively unscathed. The trade war between US and China still weighs down the global stock markets.
