This book is edited by Edmund Wee of Epigram Books and illustrated by Jacqueline Goh.
The book collates some of the quotes from Singapore politicians and ministers that were funny or unbelievable that were uttered by them. Some knock you off your chair.
It is a small book that fits in the palm of your hand. You can read it in a matter of hours.
I like the creative illustrations by Jacqueline Goh that sort of enhance the funny sides of the quotes.
Politics is a serious business. The quotes as they stand when isolated from the context can become ridiculous. One wonders whether the politicians had thought through them before speaking. I am sure these were spoken in all seriousness at the time.
Most of the quotes I have known them. This book just brings them out to the fore to remind me that politicians are human and are prone to gaffes.
“Mee Siam Mai Hum” – who spoke this and when was it spoken?
